The staff group plan a wide range of stimulating and enjoyable activities for the young people who attend the group. Activities are often based in the local community and are varied to suit the individuals who attend. With the support of skilled staff, the young people are able to enjoy activities in a group environment which their mainstream peers can take for granted. By creating these positive experiences for the individuals, the parents often feel confident enough to then trial the activity as a family.
Local activities range from swimming, bowling, farms, parks, soft play areas, train rides, theatre, arts and crafts, cinema, walks, boat trips, cafés and museums. Trips are planned as far as possible with the young people who attend.
With thanks to kind donors, the group have also enjoyed trips further afield such as to London to see The Lion King, to Weston Super Mare and to water parks. The group have also enjoyed successful holidays to The Calvert Trust, Exmoor where they have enjoyed a week of outward bound activities. The young people who attended benefitted immensely from the supported independence the trip brought. They were challenged by the activities and felt a real sense of achievement on their return home.
